As some of you may know, I've come up with the craziest new years resolution. I want to be a triathlete.
CRAZY... I know.
But it was so crazy that this is the first year that I've actually stuck to my cliche' tradition of making myself a promise that I would usually break by January 2. April 21st..... still going strong. :)
The tri I chose will be a sprint tri. ((for the non-tri-jargon speakers, that means I'll be having a shorter race - not a faster one.)) 1/4 mile swim, 12 mile bike ride, 5K run. My new years resolution was reasonable people - I'm not shooting to be the next iron man....
Now, how do I keep up the motivation?
1. Pin anything & everything on Pinterest having to do with being #healthyin2012. That's also my personal hashtag on twitter & recording mantra for the year.
2. Coerce close friends into running with me in high peak of 85 degree humid heat. (thx Cait, Brooke, LuAnn). They call me Dory. I don't know if it's a term of endearment, or a name of an "annoying fish that you have to love" that they correlate me with.
3. Watch videos like this:
Ok, back to #2. Dory?? Yea.... I'm known to be an audible singer when I run. Who knew? You learn a lot about yourself when your hitting the pavement. Or in this case, the shell laden ground (this is Florida. Even when you run, it's a vacation). Apparently, when I'm running out of steam, I start singing out motivational lines (and sometimes Sublime lyrics) to get my mind off the pains shooting down my shins. (don't judge my 90s lovin self. I dig those tunes.)
...Early in the morning, risin' to the street....
And onto #3. Oh #Schmidt. We all love you. There's nothing really more to add to that.
Just keep swimming everyone.
xo,
When Coach asked me to sub his spin class, I was like, a) yes b) it's on and c) let's do this.
